Roxybot is a celebrity body guard turned 80’s rock star robot. She is sassy, opinionated, ambitious, and a little out there. She is working on her first album which is a blend of electropunk and folktronica.

Roxybot is also a plush doll created by Stuffed Robot in 2005. Stuffed Robot is a company of sorts formed by three people, Jessie Vogel, Patrick Moberg, and me, Bill Brown. We make a lot of things, but we mainly work on plush robots. Even though we first started doing this in 2005, this year (2009) we decided to take a different route and re-launch each of our toys for a final last hurrah. We re-launched 100 Mellowtrons in early Febuary, and we are now working on our next design, Roxybot. This tumblr is a place for anyone to see how we go from design, to production, to the website with the stuff we make, in this case Roxybot the punk rock robot.

This is the first post in chronicling the creation of Roxybot. To be exact, it would actually be re-creation. Roxybot is a plush toy Jessica Vogel made in 2005 that eventually became one of the Stuffed Robots, which is a line of plush toys sold on stuffedrobot.com. However at that time we were hand making each one, which took a little too much time for us to handle (4 hours a robot). As a result we ended up finding a manufacturer in Pennsylvania who could make small runs of 12, this company was called Spirit Builders. This year, we decided to step it up and start getting our robots made in shipments of 100. We found a manufacturing rep named Moe, who works for a company called Small Actors Studio, LLC (they usually make puppets) who was willing to help us produce 100 through factories overseas. We did this once with another one of our robots named Mellowtron. This tumblr will follow the complete process from design, to manufacture, to website, and hopefully to peoples arms, of Roxybot, the punk rock robot.
